Let’s talk about YOU.
You’re taking your life and career into your own hands.
You’re brave!
You’re talented, you know it, and you’re putting your money where your mouth is… literally.
You care about yourself and the people around you, and you love the flexibility your work provides.
You’re a freelance worker, and you represent 36% of the workforce!
With so many people choosing the freelancing lifestyle, there is absolutely no reason that you need to go it alone when it comes to your care, benefits, resources, and protection.
So, who are you, exactly?
-
You are not a huge fan of uncertainty. You prefer to know what’s coming and have buffers and contingency plans in place. Security is a big deal, and you know it better than most!
We feel that way, too! That’s why we care so much about connecting our Guild Members with PTO and a 401k plan with a match (with no vesting period!) so you can plan for the future.
As for contingency plans? As W-2 employees, our Guild Members also have the built in protections of Paid Family Medical Leave, Unemployment, and Workers Compensation. That’s a better backup plan than 1099’s have!
-
You like things to be organized and scheduled out.
Us, too! That’s why we offer the ability for freelancers who receive a lump sum payment to be able to split it out over the next few pay-periods so you have consistency and stable payments until your next job’s earnings come through.
-
You’re either busy helping people buy or sell their home. Your phone is constantly ringing. Tedious administrative tasks like researching your own health insurance plans get in the way of closing the deal!
We take that administrative burden out of the equation by providing you with only the best health insurance options for your and your family! Oh, and the premium? Trust us, you’re going to like it!
-
What can stop a creative process in its tracks? The thought of taxes. Yeah, we are also guilty of avoiding filing our quarterly taxes and gritting our teeth during tax season.
Luckily, our Guild Members don’t have to worry about taxes since they’re automatically calculated & taken out of each paycheck, and all you need to do at the end of the year is file a simple W-2 tax return. Whew!
-
You are a LEADER! People look to you for answers when it comes to their spiritual journey, their career, and their life as a whole. They expect you to have the answers and guide them toward their goal.
But sometimes you may also need guidance. That’s why all of our Guild Members have access to our EAP (Employee Assistance Program), which includes free counseling for you and your immediate family, 30 minutes of free legal support, and even free tax advice. You make sure your people are in good hands, and we make sure you’re in good hands!

Our Story
Hollie Miller founded Guilds with Benefits after hearing about a hair stylist who was taking on new clients immediately after she returned from 2 weeks of unpaid leave due to her husband (and father of their young son) unexpectedly and tragically passing away. Her new financial realities robbed her of time to grieve and readjust her and her son’s lives. No safety net, no paid time off, no more health insurance. Her life was totally shaken.
Having been surrounded by trade workers her whole life, Hollie has seen situations like this happen all too often. Trade workers fall through the cracks all the time, like when they are injured or sick and cannot perform their work. They also pay a huge price when they need to provide regular health benefits for their family. They are totally on their own... Until now.
Hollie Miller,
Founder & CEO
Hollie is from New Orleans and Southern Mississippi, where she grew up surrounded by trade workers, including most of her family.
After getting a business degree, Hollie moved to Oregon, where she worked in accounting, finance, payroll, and HR. In 2021, she started a homeless services non-profit with a friend and grew it to over 250 employees in just 3 years.
Having been a freelancer on and off herself her whole career, she was frustrated with the lack of support for 1099’ers and decided to do something about it. She knows first hand what a big deal it is to have financial security, and she is determined to help freelance workers get there by bringing them together in guilds.
Amanda Garcia, COO
Born in Portland Oregon, Amanda was uprooted to Louisiana, but returned "home" to Oregon in 2005. She started working in accounting and got a degree in Business & Accounting- a career she would eventually build as a business and start a youth arts non-profit. She thrives using her experiences, knowledge, and passion for helping others.
Amanda always took the non-traditional route with her career and education. Being a freelancer since 2015 while raising a family as a single parent she has seen firsthand the struggles faced by those trying to build something on their own. Determined to make a difference, it was a no-brainer to join Hollie in changing the landscape for what it means to be an independent worker.
